Alesse Information
Alesse is used to prevent pregnancy but does not protect against any sexually transmitted diseases.
How Alesse Works
Alesse works on several different levels to prevent pregnancy. First and foremost, Alesse prevents ovulation, so your body
does not release any mature eggs for fertilization. In addition, progestin thickens the mucus lining of the cervix so
that it is more difficult for sperm to move, making it nearly impossible for them to make it to any egg that might be
released in order to fertilize it. Finally, combination of Alesse hormones prevents any egg from attaching itself to
the lining of the uterus so that it cannot mature.
